Project consultancy firm Carter Hones Associates has provided progress update on the Gran Meliá hotel at Port de La Mer in Jumeirah, Dubai.
Construction of the five-star upper luxury hotel remains on schedule with completion expected by the end of 2026.
The company confirmed the recent completion of the hotel’s mock-up room, allowing the project to proceed to interior finishes and procurement of furnishings and equipment as outlined in the programme.
The hotel is being developed by ASB Investment and has a total investment exceeding Dh1bn ($272.23m). It will be managed by Meliá Hotels International under its Gran Meliá brand, as per a release posted on Zawya.
Designed by MOMA International Design, the resort consists of two basement levels, a ground floor, four upper floors, podium, and a roof level, covering a total built-up area of 91,097m².
The property will offer 366 rooms and suites with direct access to the beach.
Carter Hones Associates began work on the project in September 2022, initially focusing on design management and advisory services in partnership with MOMA.
In February 2023, its responsibilities expanded to include overall project and commercial management through quantity surveying, tender coordination and onsite support to ensure alignment between design objectives and construction while monitoring costs throughout delivery.
International consultants involved in the development include Lagranja for interior design; SEED Consulting Engineers for mechanical, electrical and plumbing; John R Harris & Partners as structural consultant; Dutco Construction as main contractor; Al Shirawi Contracting for mechanical and electrical works; and Istana-Furniture for interior fit-out.
Carter Hones Associates project director Andrew Snelling said: “Our embedded team is working closely with all stakeholders to keep the project moving forward in a controlled and coordinated way.
“From deep basement levels through to MEP execution, our focus remains on maintaining quality, programme certainty and commercial value as the build progresses.”
Upon completion, facilities at the Gran Meliá Hotel will include a restaurant, lobby café, meeting spaces, retail units, ballroom, landscaped areas, four main pools plus 31 private suite pools, fitness centre, spa and rooftop terrace.
Planned amenities also include five restaurants such as Zuma Beach House and Novikov alongside retail and leisure options.
The hotel is situated on reclaimed land within the Port de La Mer master plan led by developer Meraas.
