Global hospitality service provider Marriott International has signed an agreement to launch what will become the largest Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

The agreement is with the subsidiaries of BinDawood Trading involving, Al Qimmah Hospitality Company and Amwaj Real Estate Company.

The Courtyard by Marriott Makkah Al Naseem is set to open in 2026, featuring 2,179 rooms.

Al Qimmah chairman Abdul Razzaq BinDawood said: “The signing of the agreement reflects the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 framework, which aims to position the country as a global hub for religious and cultural tourism and continues to promote cultured real estate development.

"We are constructing high-quality towers within the Al Naseem District, as part of our ongoing commitment to serve guests and travellers to the Holy Mosque. This will be one of our largest developments to date and a continuation of our strategic collaboration with Marriott International.”

The Courtyard by Marriott Makkah Al Naseem is anticipated to be an addition to the brand's extensive global presence.

The hotel will consist of seven inter-connecting towers with guest rooms, a restaurant that can accommodate more than 1,800 guests, a lobby lounge, and a Grab n’ Go market, all designed in the brand’s style.

Marriott International Middle East Lodging Development regional vice-president Chadi Hauch said: “We are pleased to build on our relationship with Al Qimmah Hospitality and BinDawood Trading with this landmark agreement to open the world’s largest Courtyard by Marriott in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

“This agreement underscores Marriott International’s commitment to supporting the growth of the Kingdom’s tourism sector and reinforces the continued demand we are seeing for our portfolio of brands in the Holy City of Makkah.”

The signing aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 framework, which aims to position the country as a global hub for religious and cultural tourism, with plans to host 30 million religious tourists by 2030.
