US-based Davidson Hospitality Group has assumed management of the Homestead Midway Utah resort, under its operating vertical Davidson Resorts.

Set on nearly 190 acres in the Wasatch Valley, the property offers 123 rooms and suites, with 85 additional residences currently under development.

Planned upgrades and new amenities at the site are scheduled to open in stages between early 2026 and late 2027.

The resort currently features multiple attractions, including The Crater at Homestead, a geothermal formation measuring approximately 400ft wide and 55ft high, and several buildings of historic and operational significance.

The premises include facilities such as a restored sunroom in the Virginia House, the original dairy house known as Milk House, six swimming pools, outdoor pickleball courts, and a network of trails throughout the surrounding valley and Wasatch range.

Further development plans detail a redesigned championship golf course managed by Troon, a new pro shop with an indoor golf simulator, a spa, an activity centre, and fitness facilities.

Plans also include the Barn & Carriage House, providing 17,600ft² of meeting and event space, as well as two new dining venues: Simon’s Tavern and the open-air 1886 Grill.

Homestead’s history dates back to 1864, when Swiss immigrant Simon Schneitter discovered a geothermal hot spring while cultivating the land.

Schneitter’s Hot Pot Resort opened in 1886, establishing the site as a destination for dining and lodging.

The Virginia House has been recognised on the National Register of Historic Places since 1992 and remains the only surviving Federal-style structure in the area.

Davidson Resorts operations senior vice-president Thomas Fraher said: “We are excited to welcome Homestead to our growing portfolio of distinctive resorts, with our sights set on elevating performance, experiences, and opportunities.

“Our team of seasoned resort experts will create tremendous value for our valued partners through knowledge, anticipation, execution, and collaboration.”

Davidson Hospitality Group also manages Asher Adams, Autograph Collection in Salt Lake City and Snowpine Lodge in Alta, further strengthening its presence in the Utah hospitality market.
