Lifestyle hospitality company Ennismore has entered a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with real estate investment and development company Bondstone for Mondrian Arcaya in Portugal.

Mondrian Arcaya would be the brand's first hotel in Portugal and a significant step in Ennismore's global expansion.

Scheduled to open in 2028, the Mondrian hotel will feature 120 rooms, including 30 luxury suites. It will also feature three restaurants and bars, a fitness centre and three pools.

Ennismore Mondrian brand chief operating officer Phil Zrihen said: "Portugal, and the Algarve in particular, offers the ideal setting for our first property in the country thanks to its rich culture, stunning landscape, and a globally sought-after lifestyle. Together with Bondstone, we're creating something that will resonate with both international travellers and the local community."

Bondstone CEO Paulo Loureiro said: "It is a privilege to bring the Mondrian brand to Arcaya. This partnership reflects Bondstone's mission to develop places that combine beauty, purpose, and longevity.

An Ennismore brand with 11 properties worldwide, Mondrian continues to grow with planned openings in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Bucharest, and the Maldives.

This expansion follows Ennismore's recent addition of four new hotels in Mexico.
