The 116-year-old Gunter hotel in San Antonio, Texas, US, has reopened its doors to the public, following the completion of a $57m renovation programme.
The hotel has now become a member of Marriott Bonvoy’s Tribute Portfolio, a group of more than 160 hotels worldwide.
The property offers 311 guest rooms, of which 30 are suites and 14 rooms are designed to meet the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Guest rooms include redesigned layouts with contemporary bathrooms, mid-century-style fixtures, and additional updates.
Amenities at the hotel also include a 24-hour fitness centre, a rooftop pool, and 20,000ft² of meeting and event space.
Guests currently have access to renovated rooms and select public spaces.
The hotel’s interior redesign was handled by DLR Group.
The reimagined hotel also introduces new features such as a recording studio, a vinyl library with more than 900 albums, and four food and bar venues.
The restaurant Jots and the Keystone Club are currently functioning with limited menus ahead of their full launches while Bar 414, named after the room where musician Robert Johnson recorded, is expected to open soon.
Paris Baguette will open its first San Antonio location on-site, offering pastries and coffee.
The hotel’s full reopening is scheduled for later this year, with phased rollouts expected throughout this year.
The Gunter hotel aims to expand its appeal to business and leisure travellers.
