Hilton has expanded its presence in Japan by signing an agreement with ORIX Real Estate to introduce Conrad Kobe, a new hotel scheduled to open in 2030 in Hyogo Prefecture.

The deal marks Hilton’s first hotel in Hyogo and extends its luxury Conrad Hotels & Resorts brand footprint in the Kansai region.

The new property will occupy the upper floors of a high-rise building within the Kobe City Hall Building No. 2 redevelopment project, a mixed-use scheme led by a consortium of seven companies, including ORIX Real Estate Corporation.

Conrad Kobe will provide 136 guest rooms and suites, along with a selection of restaurants and bars, an executive lounge, an indoor swimming pool, a fitness centre, and a spa.

Event facilities at the planned hotel will include a 500m² ballroom and several meeting rooms intended for international conferences, business events, and social gatherings.

Nearby attractions listed by Hilton include the Former Foreign Settlement of Kobe and Nankinmachi, one of the country's three major Chinatowns.

Hilton Japan and Micronesia development vice-president Hirohisa Fujimoto said: “Amid growing demand for luxury brands in Japan, Conrad will be introduced to a new destination in partnership with long-standing partner ORIX Real Estate Corporation.

“This will further strengthen our luxury portfolio in the Kansai region, and we are confident that the opening of the Conrad Kobe will create a new landmark in the city.”

Conrad Hotels & Resorts currently operates in Tokyo and Osaka, with other upcoming Japanese sites, including Conrad Nagoya in 2026 and Conrad Yokohama in 2027.

Hilton’s luxury brands in Japan also include Waldorf Astoria and LXR Hotels & Resorts, with additional openings planned in the coming years.

In a separate development, Hilton’s Curio Collection opened its first cave hotel in Türkiye with the launch of Elika Cave Suites Cappadocia.
