Hilton has signed a deal to bring a new Hilton Hotels & Resorts property to Thessaloniki, expanding its presence in Greece.

The hotel is due to open in 2029 and will be managed by Hilton under an agreement with real estate developer DIMAND.

The project will add to Hilton’s portfolio in Greece, where the company now has more than 70 operating and pipeline hotels.

Hilton Thessaloniki will have 184 rooms spread across two buildings. The scheme includes a newly built main hotel with 154 rooms and a heritage building with 30 rooms.

The hotel is planned with a communal area, two restaurants, two bars, fitness facilities, and space for conferences and events.

A rooftop terrace and swimming pool will also be included, with views over the city and the sea.

A neighbouring building next to the hotel is set to house the Philharmonic Orchestra and art exhibitions.

Hilton vice-president of development for Southern Europe Alan Mantin said: "This signing reflects our continued progress and confidence in Greece, a key strategic market for Hilton, and our commitment to growing our portfolio in key destinations to serve a wider range of traveller needs."

The project is being developed by Dimand under a masterplan designed by architects Foster + Partners.

Dimand chief executive Dimitris Andriopoulos said: “The arrival of an international hospitality brand such as Hilton is a strong indication of the growing maturity of Thessaloniki's market and of the city's increasing appeal as both an investment and tourism destination.”

Last month, Hilton and ORIX Real Estate partnered to open Conrad Kobe in Hyogo Prefecture by 2030.
