IHG Hotels & Resorts is expanding its footprint in Egypt with the debut of the Holiday Inn Express brand in New Administrative Capital, a strategic community in Cairo.

The company has reached a franchise agreement with Samco Holding for the hotel development.

Scheduled to open in 2030, the hotel will be managed by regional third-party operating partner Ishraq Hospitality.

The upcoming Holiday Inn Express will offer 125 guest rooms, featuring the brand's Generation 5 design. This design is a combination of lifestyle-focused hospitality with the amenities required by business travellers.

The New Administrative Capital, a central business and innovation hub, is part of Egypt Vision 2030.

Nestled within mixed-use development The Five in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital, the hotel will benefit from proximity to government and commercial entities.

IHG Hotels & Resorts India, Middle East & Africa managing director Haitham Mattar said: “The signing of this partnership with Samco Asset Management to bring Holiday Inn Express to the New Administrative Capital is aligned with our strategy of expanding in key growth cities, and the New Administrative Capital is a landmark opportunity for business, government, and tourism.

"With increasing demand for quality, smart and simple stays in Egypt, Holiday Inn Express Cairo New Capital will meet the evolving needs of today’s travellers through next-generation design and smart stays.

“This new hotel complements our strong pipeline in Cairo and reinforces our support for Egypt’s national tourism growth ambitions.”

IHG's current portfolio in Egypt includes seven hotels across four brands, which are Crowne Plaza, InterContinental, Holiday Inn, and Staybridge Suites. Holiday Inn Express has more than 3,100 properties worldwide.

The company also has 21 hotels under development, which are set to launch across Egypt within the next two to five years.

Samco Holding for Development chairman Mohamed El Sayed Abdel Motaleb said: “Our partnership with IHG represents a significant step in our hospitality expansion journey. Holiday Inn Express is a globally respected brand, and we are confident it will become a preferred choice for guests visiting the New Administrative Capital.

“Our vision for ‘The Five’ has always been to create a destination that sets new standards in real estate development, and we are excited to integrate a hotel offering that combines smart convenience, comfort, and connectivity for today’s travellers.”

Last June, real estate developer Arkan Palm collaborated with IHG by launching the first Holiday Inn Express in Egypt, as a component of the 205 West Cairo project.
