Hyatt Hotels has opened Alila Mayakoba in Riviera Maya, Mexico, introducing the Alila brand to Latin America and the Caribbean with a resort centred on well-being and nature-based hospitality.

Developed with RLH Properties, the property incorporates open architectural design and local traditions to create a guest experience connected to the Riviera Maya environment.

Alila Mayakoba spans 60 acres within the Mayakoba enclave, comprising 182 guest rooms, suites, and villas set amid beachfront, lagoon, and jungle landscapes.

The resort’s design features suites, nearly 40% of accommodation, with private terraces and interiors by Huber Design using native Yucatán materials.

Well-being offerings at Alila Mayakoba are based on traditional Mayan practices. Guests are welcomed with customary rituals and can participate in activities including Earth and Clay purification and Winds of Renewal ceremonies.

Spa Alila at Mayakoba offers treatments guided by the Tzolk’in calendar, such as sunrise rituals, temazcal sessions, and sound-based therapies. The fitness facilities feature Technogym equipment and include assessments to determine each guest’s wellness age.

The resort’s dining venues include al fresco beach settings and chef-led tasting menus based on local ingredients. Casa Amate features globally influenced dishes while El Huerto chef’s atelier incorporates produce from on-site gardens to support sustainable practices.

Na Cocina Local serves contemporary regional cuisine, Ninguno Taqueria offers a selection of street food items, and Xiim Bar provides pastries in the morning and cocktails in the evening.

The property also accommodates gatherings such as weddings and private celebrations tailored to guests' needs.

Alila Mayakoba general manager Patrick Schori said: “From the moment guests arrive, we want them to feel at ease and fully present as they discover the connection between the Alila brand’s philosophy of mindful luxury and Riviera Maya’s natural beauty and cultural richness.

“Every part of the resort is rooted in place – from unfolding landscapes and open-air architecture to subtle sensory details woven throughout the guest journey. Alila Mayakoba offers an experience that is grounded, intuitive, and deeply restorative.”

Last month, Hyatt Hotels opened the Hyatt Regency Vilamoura Algarve, adding a new property to its portfolio in Portugal.
