Global hospitality group Hyatt has revealed plans for two Andaz brand hotels in Hong Kong and Japan, both scheduled to open in 2027.

A Hyatt affiliate has reached an agreement with Wing Tai Properties and CSI Properties to manage the first Andaz hotel in Hong Kong.

Andaz Hong Kong Central will be developed as part of Central Crossing at 118 Wellington Street, a larger mixed-use project featuring offices, green spaces, and restored heritage buildings in the city’s Central district.

The hotel will include 125 rooms and suites, some of which can be used for private events. Facilities are set to comprise a communal living room area, an all-day dining restaurant, a fitness centre, and various wellness amenities.

The project will also introduce Andaz Village, a retail area incorporated within the development.

Central Crossing’s location provides direct access to Hong Kong’s central walkway network, with nearby MTR and Airport Express stations allowing easy transport links.

Hyatt Asia Pacific group president David Udell said: “We are honoured to be part of this landmark project with Wing Tai Properties and CSI Properties in the heart of Central, building on our deep roots in Hong Kong since the opening of Hyatt’s first hotel outside the United States here in 1969.”

A Hyatt affiliate has also signed a management agreement with an affiliate of Takenaka Corporation for Andaz Hiroshima hotel in western Japan’s Chūgoku region.

Andaz Hiroshima will occupy the upper floors (21st to 31st) of a new high-rise forming part of a public-private urban redevelopment in central Hiroshima.

The hotel will feature 235 guest rooms and suites, along with restaurants, a rooftop bar, a fitness centre with an indoor pool, and adaptable spaces for events.

Takenaka president Masato Sasaki said: “Hyatt has been an excellent collaborator for us on multiple high-profile projects, including properties in Kyoto and New York, and we are excited to work with them again on this exceptional development.”

The brand, which first entered Japan with the Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills hotel, will mark Andaz Hiroshima as its second location in the country.

The expansion in Hong Kong and Hiroshima forms part of a wider strategy for the Andaz portfolio in the Asia Pacific, with additional properties scheduled to open in Shanghai, Bangkok, and Australia’s Gold Coast in the next few years.
