Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has launched two new IHCL SeleQtions resorts in the Lakshadweep archipelago off the coast of India.

The 60-room Bangaram Island resort is designed to offer eco-friendly stays while Coral Pearl offers 50 glamping tents.

Visitors can explore the local biodiversity through activities such as scuba diving, kayaking, snorkelling and curated trails.

IHCL managing director and CEO Puneet Chhatwal said: “In keeping with IHCL’s legacy of pioneering destinations in India, the two resorts on Bangaram island put Lakshadweep on the global tourism map. Reflective of our ethos of responsible tourism, the eco-resorts set in the pristine white beaches offer distinctive experiences rooted in the local essence.

“Extending the travel itinerary, these openings will now offer an exclusive island getaway experience and showcase India’s diverse tourism landscape.”

IHCL and its subsidiaries operate a diverse portfolio of 400 hotels worldwide, including 151 under pipeline, spanning four continents, 14 countries, and more than 150 locations.

Earlier this month, IHCL announced the signing of a new Taj-branded hotel in Naina Tikker, Himachal Pradesh, which is a brownfield project with 120 keys, offering views of the Dhauladhar mountain range and catering to both leisure and business travellers.

Last month, IHCL entered an agreement for a new Gateway hotel in Pune, Maharashtra, further expanding its presence in India. Guests can access various culinary experiences, including an all-day dining restaurant, a bar, and a speciality restaurant.
