IHG to expand Greater China footprint with planned openings in H2 2026

IHG said it will open hotels shaped by “local culture, design, and guest experience”.

IHG Hotels & Resorts has outlined a pipeline of hotel openings across Greater China scheduled for the second half of 2026.

In a statement, IHG said the planned additions will span major cities, transport-linked locations and leisure destinations.

Planned openings include InterContinental Shenzhen ICSZ (International Communication Center Shenzhen) and InterContinental Taipei. The company also listed Holiday Inn Shanghai NECC (National Exhibition and Convention Center), along with Holiday Inn Express hotels in Shenzhen Bay, Shanghai North Bund Riverside and Beijing Daxing Xihongmen.

IHG said it will continue expanding brands aimed at lifestyle demand and conversion opportunities in the second half of 2026.

Garner Hotels is scheduled to open in Chongqing Jiefangbei and Wuxi Qingming Bridge. Atwell openings are planned in Guangzhou Pazhou, Nanjing Xinjiekou and Hangzhou Wulin.

Additionally, IHG said it will open hotels shaped by “local culture, design, and guest experience”. Kimpton Nine Trees Shanghai is planned for Shanghai, with IHG referencing a design-led lifestyle concept.

The group also named Hotel Indigo projects in Jingdezhen and Quanzhou Ancient Town. Crowne Plaza Suzhou Taihu is also scheduled, which IHG said will add coverage in a leisure market. EVEN Hotel Jingdezhen is planned as a wellbeing-focused offering.

“Each opening contributes to the ongoing evolution of our presence across key markets, as we continue to focus on delivering relevant and consistent experiences for guests across different travel needs.”

IHG operates 14 brands in Greater China. The company reported more than 1,500 hotels open and in the pipeline across more than 200 cities.
