Austria-based developer JP Hospitality has revealed a new category in airport hotels with the launch of Pan Am Hotel, focusing on premium lifestyle offerings for airport hotels.

The company announced the concept at Expo Real 2025 in Munich, which marks a shift for JP Hospitality as it assumes hotel operating responsibilities for the first time.

Pan Am Hotel aims to position itself differently from existing airport accommodation by adopting mid-century modern design and offering flexible usage arrangements alongside continuous service, said the company.

It will also focus on “brand, design, innovation, service, and gastronomy”.

JP Hospitality managing partner Gebhard Schachermayer said: “With the launch of Pan Am Hotel, we are setting a new standard in airport hospitality. Airports deserve better hotels – without excessive prices, but with comfort, quality, and innovation.”

The brand plans to address both travellers’ needs and investor interests.

JP Hospitality has indicated an initial rollout of Pan Am Hotel properties at European airports beginning in 2028, with further negotiations underway at other international locations.

The Pan Am Hotel initiative allows for new development projects and provides an option for current airport hotel owners to rebrand their properties, potentially opening new revenue sources.

JP Hospitality managing director Dietmar Ploberger said: “The steadily increasing demand for overnight stays at airports, coupled with the often poor quality of service, has prompted us to fill this market gap with high-quality, demand-oriented hotels.”

According to the company, airports are evolving into business centres with a rise in overnight stays. The company aims to use this trend as it help create new opportunities for investors and operators.
