Hospitality brand Marriott International has appointed Kiran Andicot as senior vice president to head its South Asian region.
In this role, Andicot will supervise both operations and development for Marriott International's portfolio in the region.
His responsibilities include coordinating growth with operational efficiency, enhancing relationships with property owners, expediting property conversions and openings, and bolstering the leadership team within South Asia.
Andicot joined Marriott International’s development and feasibility team in 2006 and spent 19 years with the company.
As the regional head of development, he has played a key role in driving growth in India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, and Bangladesh, securing agreements for more than 220 hotels in these countries.
In India, Andicot and his team secured deals for 42 hotels and 7,000 rooms last year.
They also signed an agreement with Concept Hospitality this year to affiliate 115 properties from The Fern’s portfolio with Marriott’s new brand, Series by Marriott.
Andicot has nearly 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry across India and South Asia, covering hotel operations, planning, consultancy, feasibility and development.
Before his tenure at Marriott, he dedicated four years to real estate and hospitality consulting at EY and HVS.
Additionally, he amassed seven years of experience in hotel operations with Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) and the Oberoi Group, working at multiple sites throughout India.
Marriott International Asia Pacific excluding China president Rajeev Menon said: “These accomplishments are a testament to Kiran’s deep understanding of South Asian markets, strong relationships with our owner partners, incisive business acumen, and steady leadership.
“I am confident that with Kiran’s vast expertise, supported by our experienced leadership bench, Marriott will continue its trajectory of sustained growth in South Asia.”
Based in the US, Marriott manages a portfolio of more than 9,600 properties spread over 30 brands across 143 countries and territories.
In July, Marriott and Ventive Hospitality reached a multi-deal agreement to introduce new hotels in Sri Lanka and India.
