Global hospitality group Minor Hotels has appointed Nicholas Smith as vice president of operations for Asia.

As part of his new role, he will lead a team of regional leaders, as well as oversee and bolster the company’s rapidly expanding portfolio in the continent.

With more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Smith joins Minor Hotels following a lengthy tenure at Shangri-La Group. His recent role was vice president of food and beverage and operations for the Middle East, India, Indian Ocean, Europe, and the Americas (MEIA), where he managed 17 properties.

Minor Hotels operates more than 560 hotels, resorts, and branded residences in 58 countries, with eight hotel brands, which include Anantara, Avani, NH Collection, nhow, and Tivoli.

In addition to its hospitality ventures, Minor Hotels also has a diverse portfolio in the dining, travel, spa, and wellness sectors.

Earlier this year, the group named Gonzalo Aguilar as CEO of operations for Europe and the Americas.

Additionally, Minor Hotels recently appointed new leadership for its properties in Sri Lanka, namely the NH Collection Colombo Hotel and NH Bentota Ceysands Resort, signifying its commitment to strengthening its brand presence in the country.
