Global hospitality group Minor Hotels has signed an agreement to open its first NH Collection brand hotel in Sliema, Malta, by the end of 2026.
The new-build hotel named NH Collection Sliema will offer 268 rooms and suites.
The porperty will be equipped with amenities such as a restaurant, a rooftop bar offering sea views, a spa and wellness centre, and a swimming pool.
Its location places it close to Sliema’s seafront promenade as well as local shops and restaurants, while remaining less than ten kilometres from Valetta, Malta’s capital city.
Minor Hotels Europe & Americas CEO Gonzalo Aguilar said: “Malta marks an exciting new chapter for Minor Hotels as we enter this vibrant destination for the first time.
“We are delighted to introduce the extraordinary NH Collection experience to Malta, bringing our signature blend of premium hospitality and local authenticity to Sliema.”
The NH Collection Sliema will operate under a franchise arrangement. This approach is part of Minor Hotels’ plan to grow its franchising presence in selected markets.
Minor Hotels has stated that this development aligns with its ‘asset-right’ growth strategy, which involves a mix of owned, leased, managed and franchised hotels.
The company is seeking further franchise opportunities in both established and new markets, including regions such as the Balkans and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
To support this strategy, Minor Hotels has selected Sandra Cremesini as senior vice-president of franchise support for Europe and the Americas. Cremesini brings experience from previous roles in international franchise management.
Minor Hotels operates several brands with nearly 50 years of experience in hotel development and management.
The NH Collection brand counts more than 100 hotels across 25 countries.
Recently, NH Collection Hotels launched its first Paris property in the 8th arrondissement, close to the Champs-Élysées. The NH Collection Paris Ponthieu Champs-Élysées is located in a building dating back to 1910 and features its preserved Haussmannian façade.
