Navan integrates AI-powered system for business travel hotel listings

The system consolidates hotel room and rate data from multiple sources to streamline booking for business travellers.

US-based AI-powered travel platform Navan has introduced a new hotel catalogue system intended to address inconsistencies in room and rate information across the business travel sector.

The platform aggregates data from 2.6 million properties, pulling inventory from direct partnerships with hotel brands, and content from global distribution service providers Sabre and Amadeus and online travel agencies such as Expedia, Booking.com, and MakeMyTrip.

The company has developed the infrastructure internally in response to ongoing challenges with conflicting data presented to travellers booking accommodation.

This approach aims to align room listings displayed online with what guests encounter upon arrival at the property.

Current industry solutions have faced difficulties processing the variety and volume of information generated by multiple booking channels.

Navan’s updated technology includes a unified catalogue that standardises and organises room data for each hotel on its platform, alongside an AI-based mapping tool that consolidates disparate descriptions into a single verified listing.

The system is designed to display all available rate options, including refundable rates eligible for loyalty points and last-minute deals, on a single interface for self-service booking.

According to Navan, the new structure will support the expansion of its lodging marketplace by enabling integration of further inventory sources and direct connections in the future.

The enhancements aim to resolve frequent confusion experienced by travellers comparing different room types across platforms.

Navan travel marketplace senior vice-president Dane Molter said: “Travellers shouldn’t have to play detective to figure out if two different room listings are actually the same.

“By using LLMs as a universal translator, we’ve eliminated the duplicate listings that clutter search results, and we’ve improved how rates get matched to rooms.

“Today, travellers using Navan only see rooms that actually exist, with more rate options, and more detailed information and photography.”
