Minor Hotels has signed an agreement to launch the NH Collection Pemba Island Resort in Tanzania, scheduled to open in February 2030.

This move expands NH Collection’s presence into the Zanzibar archipelago and reinforces Minor Hotels’ broader commitment to growth across East Africa.

The announcement follows continued collaboration with Infinity Developments, which also owns the Anantara Zanzibar Resort & Residences, currently under construction.

Situated a short drive from Pemba Airport, the resort will feature 145 rooms, providing guests with access from Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam.

The new property will offer a range of suites, villas, and guest rooms. Dining outlets and meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) facilities will also form part of the development.

Minor Hotels Middle East and Africa chief operations officer Amir Golbarg said: “Introducing the NH Collection brand to Tanzania, with our first property on Pemba Island, marks a major step in our expansion footprint across the Indian Ocean, building on our trusted partnership with Infinity Developments.

“The island’s unspoiled beauty and growing appeal among experience-led travellers make it an ideal location for the NH Collection brand.”

Infinity Developments founder Samuel Saba said: “Following the success of our collaboration on Anantara Zanzibar, we are delighted to partner once again with Minor Hotels to bring the NH Collection brand to Pemba Island. The agreement aligns with Minor Hotels’ plans to increase its presence in Africa and indicates continued interest in Tanzania’s tourism sector.

Last month, Minor Hotels signed a management agreement with MK Group to operate two properties on Europe’s Adriatic coast, marking the group’s entry into Croatia and Slovenia.
