OUTRIGGER Hospitality Group has commenced a $100m renovation of its OUTRIGGER Waikīkī Beach Resort property in Hawaii, US.

The project will see the long-standing resort undergo substantial changes to its layout, design, and amenities.

OUTRIGGER Waikīkī Beach Resort is located on the historic site where Duke Kahanamoku introduced surfing and the original Outrigger Canoe Club once stood.

The ongoing transformation aims to align the hotel’s design and guest experience more closely with local surf culture and the natural features of Waikīkī.

As part of the refurbishment, the Voyager 47 Club Lounge will triple in size, offering expanded views of both Waikīkī Beach and Diamond Head.

Several elements draw inspiration from local geography, including a new staircase and motifs referencing the ʻĀpuakēhau Stream.

Throughout the process, OUTRIGGER will keep the Waikīkī Beach Resort fully operational.

Duke’s Waikīkī, Blue Note Hawaiʻi, and Hula Grill will remain open, continuing their decades-long service to both residents and visitors.

The company has indicated that the transformation involves collaboration with Hawaiian artists and cultural practitioners, including DTL – a Hawaiian strategy studio, and the design was developed with PowerStrip Studio and WCIT Architecture.

OUTRIGGER plans to debut newly designed guest rooms in the third quarter of 2026, with the remaining phases of the project due for completion later.

OUTRIGGER Hospitality Group president and CEO Jeff Wagoner said: “Our role is to steward this iconic resort with care while thoughtfully evolving the experience to meet the expectations of today’s traveller.

“This investment reflects a clear direction for the company — advancing our position in barefoot luxury, grounded in place, culture and connection, while continuing to lead the market and inspire lasting guest loyalty.”

The resort, regarded as a landmark property on the Waikīkī shoreline, will maintain its existing venues and hospitality standards throughout the renovation, offering guests an opportunity to see the redevelopment unfold.
