Marriott International’s luxury boutique brand Edition has launched The Red Sea Edition hotel on Saudi Arabia’s Shura Island, as part of its expansion plan in the Middle East country.
The property follows the brand’s first property in Jeddah, which opened in 2024.
The hotel is the result of partnership between Marriott International, Edition Hotels, and Red Sea Global (RSG).
Marriott Luxury Group, The Red Sea area general manager Tony Coveney said: “Opening The Red Sea Edition represents a major milestone for the destination as it marks the launch of Shura Island which is the cornerstone development of The Red Sea.”
Shura Island will feature several resorts, marinas, dining, and entertainment facilities.
The development supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 that aims to develop the country as a centre for tourism and growth.
The Red Sea Edition hotel offers 240 guest rooms, including 53 suites with options for private terraces and direct beach access.
Facilities include outdoor pools, a spa, a gym, dining venues, and restaurants overlooking the sea or pool.
The resort’s design comes from Rockwell Group, incorporating materials such as earth walls, coral stone floors, and natural oak.
Each pavilion features rooftops shaped to resemble coral and the lobby is designed with floor-to-ceiling windows and open doors.
Dining at the hotel includes The Lobby, which serves food and drinks throughout the day, Central Restaurant offering New American cuisine, and JIWA Beach Club, which presents a menu led by Indonesian chefs.
The spa facilities offer an infrared sauna, bio sauna, heated loungers, and lymphatic shower.
Outdoor amenities allow for watersports, desert hiking, and court sports.
Event facilities at The Red Sea Edition offer more than 1,000m² of space, including a grand ballroom for up to 500 attendees and smaller meeting rooms.
Edition senior vice president and global brand leader George Fleck said: “The opening of The Red Sea Edition marks a significant milestone in the brand’s continued growth across the region and deepens its commitment to delivering experiences that transcend conventional luxury.
“As our second property in Saudi Arabia, this resort embodies the Edition ethos of crafting highly personalised spaces that feel attuned to their environment."
RSG has prioritised a regenerative model, with the resort operating entirely on solar power and integrating environmental considerations into its construction and operations.
This approach aligns with the wider ecological ambitions of the Red Sea development.
