Hospitality company Hilton has revealed the opening of the Waldorf Astoria resort in Costa Rica’s Punta Cacique peninsula, marking an expansion of its luxury hotel portfolio in the Caribbean and Latin America.

The property is 25 minutes from Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport and is the first to open within Punta Cacique.

Hilton Americas president Danny Hughes said: " This property marks the debut of the brand in Costa Rica and offers guests an unparalleled level of luxury and our signature Waldorf Astoria hospitality.”

Designed by Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos from Mexico City, the resort integrates indoor and outdoor spaces, featuring living rooftops to promote sustainability and reduce heat.

The resort comprises 148 guest rooms and 40 suites, all featuring views of Punta Cacique's landscapes.

The suites each offer living areas and private terraces or rooftops while 22 of the suites have private plunge pools.

Hilton Luxury Brands senior vice-president and global head Dino Michael said: “From the many considerations in its architecture and design, to curated guest experience and food and beverage, this property is embodying the next era of the Waldorf Astoria brand and our considered growth this year and beyond.”

A multi-level pool complements the resort's offerings, alongside a secluded beachfront with deluxe loungers, cabanas, and umbrellas.

Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique offers six dining experiences, each embracing the local flavours and traditions of Guanacaste.

The 17,000ft² spa features 11 treatment rooms, lounges, saunas, steam rooms, and a jacuzzi.

A fully equipped fitness centre and a range of wellness programmes cater to guests of all ages. The property also includes an exclusive salon, event spaces and a Wedding Lounge.

Managed by Hilton and owned by Revolution, Cacique Investors, and Garnier & Garnier, with financing raised by GFG Securities, the project adds to Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts' global portfolio of more than 20 residential properties.

In November 2022, Hilton further expanded its presence in Costa Rica with the signing of Waldorf Astoria Guanacaste.
