The W Hoboken hotel, which opened in April 2009, is the sixth New York hotel launched by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide’s W Hotels Group. The hotel is located on the west shore of the Hudson River in downtown Hoboken, New Jersey, US.

Its location near the ferry terminal and PATH stations lets the hotel’s guests and residents make the most of their proximity to Manhattan.

W Hoboken design

New Jersey-based Applied Development Company constructed W Hoboken, based on a contract awarded in 2003. The hotel was designed by Gwathmey Siegel & Associates.

The wedge-shaped structure of the W Hoboken provides a westward view of Manhattan. The entryway is spacious and is covered with natural wood panelling. The walls of the hotel have bright colours, animal prints and textural finishes.

All the guestrooms overlook the Hudson River and the New York skyline.

Accommodation at the W Hoboken

The five-storey W Hoboken has 225 rooms, 40 residences and 23 suites. Guests can choose from four types of rooms and three types of suites. The 280ft² Cozy rooms overlook Hoboken city. The Wonderful and Spectacular rooms face the Hudson River and have views of the Manhattan skyline. Each room occupies an area of 330ft². Cool Corner rooms are 448ft² and feature a private balcony.

The Fantastic suite has a separate living room, a private terrace, a separate half bathroom for guests and a separate bathtub. It is spread over 540ft². The 874ft² Wow suite has a separate dining room, a living room, a half bathroom for guests and a bar.

The Extreme Wow suite, spread across an area of 1,088ft², has two bedrooms with balconies and a connecting third bedroom. It has a dining room, two bathrooms with a separate dressing area in the master bathroom, a wet bar and telescopes on the bedroom balconies.

In-room amenities

All guestrooms have a 37in LCD TV in the bedroom, iPod docking station, a Bliss spa bath, media library, work desk and internet access. In addition, suites have a 42in LCD TV in the living room.

The Extreme Wow suite has a 50in plasma TV in the living room, a 42in plasma TV in the master bedroom and a 37in LCD TV in the second bedroom.

Dining and lounge

The Zylo restaurant serves traditional Tuscan trattoria food and specialises in prime, grass-fed and organic steaks.

Designed by Bentel & Bentel Architects, the restaurant’s decor was inspired by Hoboken’s history of shipbuilding and shop culture, and offers waterfront views of the Manhattan skyline.

The 4,000ft² Chandelier room serves drinks and wine. EMM Group planned and developed the room, which was designed by ICRAVE.

The lobby lounge was designed so that guests can enjoy snacks while they relax.

Meeting and conferencing facilities

The W Hoboken has a wired business centre, where guests can make use of high-speed internet access, PC and Mac workstations, audio / visual and telecommunications equipment and fax machines. The hotel also features five meeting rooms totalling 5,700ft² space for events. The largest meeting room measures 4,140ft².

Spa and fitness

The Bliss Spa, which is spread across 5,000ft², spans two floors. It has a Luxe Mail lounge, ten treatment rooms and a high-tech hideaway for men.

The rooms have digital lockers, glass-tiled steam showers, saunas, sink-side soap samples and snacks.

The spa offers Ginger Rub, Hangover Herbie Wax and Triple Oxygen treatments.

The W Hoboken’s 1,520ft² fitness centre is equipped with treadmills, elliptical machines and stationary bikes, boxing stations, free-weight machines, yoga equipment and cross trainers.
