Scheduled to open in 2030, the resort will be located in Narendra Nagar near Rishikesh, positioned by the River Ganges at the base of the Himalayan range.

Plans for the site encompass approximately eight acres and feature 160 guest rooms and suites, with layouts designed to integrate modern design elements and views across the Ganges Valley.

The scheme sets out five food and beverage outlets, comprising a main restaurant, rooftop service, a poolside bar and grill, and a lobby lounge and bar.

Leisure and health facilities outlined for the project include two swimming pools, a Sofitel Spa measuring 623m² with six treatment rooms, a fitness centre, and yoga and meditation sessions.

For corporate and social functions, the resort is planned to provide more than 2,000m² of event space.

The project will be built as a new-build and is set to follow Accor’s requirements on sustainability and energy performance, applying Planet 21 and Gaia 2.0 guidelines.

Accor said the signing supports its footprint in India’s luxury leisure segment and aligns with demand linked to wellness travel, cultural visits and tourism developed around sustainability.

Accor India and South Asia CEO Ranju Alex said: “Sofitel Rishikesh Narendra Nagar represents a defining addition to Accor’s luxury portfolio in India. It combines brand elegance with the deep spiritual and natural essence of Rishikesh, offering guests an unparalleled destination for renewal and celebration.

“This project also marks another milestone in our long-standing relationship with a visionary ownership group deeply rooted in India’s hospitality landscape.”
