Luxury hotel brand Corinthia Hotels will introduce a new resort in Tuscany, Italy, with the development of the Borgo di Perolla, scheduled to open by the end of 2030.

The company has signed an agreement to develop, lease and operate the property as part of its ongoing expansion in Italy.

The project is being carried out in partnership with entrepreneur Gaetano Buglisi and his BGenera Group of companies, with advisory input from Fortvny and Harry Mills Sciò.

The resort will occupy a section of the 13th-century Perolla Estate, comprising 1,300ha that include woodland, olive groves, vineyards and historical sites traversed by ancient pathways.

The location provides access to nearby attractions, including Massa Marittima, coastal areas such as Castiglione della Pescaia and Punta Ala, and regional hot springs.

Milan-based alErta design studio is overseeing the restoration and adaptation of historic buildings on the estate into an 80-key resort featuring suites and private villas.

The design will centre around a piazza and include several restaurants focused on local cuisine using produce from organic farming conducted on the estate itself.

The resort’s culinary offering will emphasise locally produced ingredients such as olive oil, wine, and honey.

Plans also include dedicated wellness facilities, event spaces, and a restored historic chapel designed for weddings and private functions.

A branded residential component is also part of the development.

BGenera Group founder and CEO Gaetano Buglisi said: “Through this partnership, we want to shape a destination where history, landscape and lifestyle come together in a way that feels timeless.”

Borgo di Perolla marks Corinthia’s third Italian property following Corinthia Rome and Corinthia Lake Como, with the latter set for launch in 2028.

Corinthia group CEO Simon Naudi said: “As our third property in Italy, Borgo di Perolla, Tuscany, marks an important step in strengthening Corinthia’s presence in this wonderful market.”

This development forms part of Corinthia Hotels’ broader strategy to expand its presence across key markets in Europe, Asia and the Middle East through distinctive luxury destinations.

Last month, Corinthia Hotels entered an agreement with ShiLong Industry Co and the Geminus Group to open Corinthia Chengdu in Sichuan province, China.
