Australia-based SiteMinder has announced the expansion of its hotel commerce platform to incorporate AI-powered pathways, aiming to facilitate both direct bookings and online travel agency (OTA) reservations using AI.

The development affects 53,000 hotel clients across 150 countries, enabling them to connect with potential guests through platforms such as ChatGPT and Claude, as well as established metasearch providers, including Google, Trivago and TripAdvisor.

The company’s Demand Plus tool will now integrate with AI-driven conversational platforms, enabling users to receive hotel recommendations and access live rates and booking options through these channels.

DirectBooker, a service linking hotels’ live rates to multiple AI platforms, will partner with SiteMinder as the first AI demand partner to enable these features.

SiteMinder’s Channels Plus solution will also grant AI-enabled OTA and intermediary services access to hotel inventories.

Bookings made within partner platforms will be processed directly into SiteMinder’s system and on to the participating hotel properties, covering the full journey from discovery to reservation.

SiteMinder’s upgrades operate according to the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which delivers real-time hotel data to AI systems.

This approach responds to findings from the company’s ‘Changing Traveller Report 2026,’ which indicates that a significant majority of travellers prefer to use AI support during their accommodation booking process.

SiteMinder CEO and managing director Sankar Narayan said: “As AI-driven hotel discovery accelerates, we are expanding Demand Plus and Channels Plus to give properties on our platform new ways to be found and convert demand across these emerging pathways.”

The platform currently manages over 2.5 million rooms and processes more than 300 million room nights a year, establishing a large-scale infrastructure intended to position hotels for the increasing AI integration in travel planning and reservations.

DirectBooker CEO and co-founder Sanjay Vakil said: “SiteMinder’s partnership supports DirectBooker’s goal of ensuring hotels are the primary beneficiaries of this shift: capturing a new generation of demand while keeping the guest relationship exactly where it belongs.”

In March 2025, Sudima Hotels teamed up with SiteMinder to simplify its distribution and revenue management processes.
