The hotel is scheduled to resume room and restaurant operations in mid-2026 after a series of phased renovations, ahead of its official reopening under the LXR brand in 2027.

Hilton currently has nearly 40 LXR properties either operating or in development worldwide.

The decision to bring Gajoen Tokyo under the LXR banner aligns with Hilton’s stated plans to increase its luxury hotel presence across Japan, with new locations in Hiroshima and Hakone due to open in 2028 and another in Niseko, Hokkaido.

The facility encompasses 60 guest rooms, including suites exceeding 100m² in size, together with five dining units, a spa, a fitness centre, and approximately 5,700m² of meeting and event space.

Hilton Japan and Micronesia development vice-president Hirohisa Fujimoto said: “As demand for luxury brands continues to grow in Japan, the introduction of LXR Hotels & Resorts to Tokyo offers a new and distinctive option to both domestic and international travellers.

“Drawing on more than 60 years of experience operating hotels in Japan, we are committed to preserving the rich heritage of this iconic property while catering to the evolving expectations of curious, experience-seeking travellers that define the LXR Hotels & Resorts brand.”

The Gajoen Tokyo, LXR Hotels & Resorts will participate in the Hilton Honors programme.

Hilton Honors members booking directly will have access to benefits, including flexible payment options, member-only discounts, complimentary Wi-Fi, digital check-in, room selection, and digital key services through the Hilton Honors app.

Earlier this week, Hilton announced plans to significantly increase its presence in Morocco by adding 15 new hotels across the country.
