Treadwell Mansion has chosen Mews as its property management system for the launch of a boutique apartment-hotel without a front desk in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, US.

The 38-unit property allows guests to handle bookings, payments, and check-ins entirely online, eliminating the need for a traditional front desk.

Treadwell Mansion intends to use Mews to provide guests with digital access codes before arrival and allow all aspects of their stays to be managed digitally.

The team developed its operating processes specifically for this project, opting for Mews due to its capacity for flexibility, open ecosystem, and digital support.

Treadwell Mansion general manager Liam Annis said: “For us, it was about creating a modern hospitality experience from day one. Mews gave us the flexibility to design exactly how we wanted the guest journey to work, from booking and check-in to everything happening behind the scenes. It’s been intuitive, efficient, and easy to scale.”

The technology integrates distribution, accounting, guest messaging, and access control through a single platform, enabling a small team to oversee the property.

Mews president Michael Coscetta said: “Treadwell is a powerful example of what happens when hospitality is designed without legacy constraints. They’ve taken a 250-year-old landmark and created a fully autonomous operation run by a lean team on a single platform. That’s exactly the kind of modern hospitality experience Mews is built to power.”

The property will mark its official grand opening this week.

Last month, Mews launched Mews Business Intelligence, a data and analytics solution aimed at providing hotel teams with immediate, actionable insights directly within the operating system.
