US-based Engine has launched Omni, an application programming interface (API) that enables hotel booking capabilities to be embedded within other websites and apps.
Industrial technology company Trimble will be the first to deploy Omni, integrating it across several of its transportation-focused platforms.

The Omni API gives companies the ability to include Engine’s hotel booking functions. It utilises Engine’s network of more than one million properties, search technology, real-time rates, payment systems, compliance features and traveller support services.
According to Engine, these features can be integrated without companies needing to develop their own supplier connections or payment infrastructure.
Trimble plans to use the Omni API in Trimble Places, its commercial location database that provides details on amenities and wait times for over six million commercial vehicle locations worldwide, including fuel stations and warehouses.
Omni will also be integrated with Trimble Road Call, a breakdown assistance module within Trimble’s TMT Fleet Maintenance product, and with Trimble CoPilot, which is a global positioning system (GPS) navigation solution for commercial fleets.
Together, Trimble’s transportation solutions serve nearly 800,000 customers in North America.
Engine CEO Elia Wallen said: “We created Omni to be a developer-friendly infrastructure that empowers our partners to integrate seamless hotel booking right into their existing platform. We’re excited to have Trimble as an early collaborator.
“For customers who live and work on the road, lodging isn’t a nice-to-have; it’s a core part of the experience. We built Omni to handle the heavy lifting so companies like Trimble can deliver that booking experience without building it themselves.”
Omni is available to developers free of charge and includes features such as API documentation, no minimum usage requirements, and a testing environment.
Engine states the platform provides search speed, AI-powered content enrichment, payment options, and scalability.
Currently, the integration of Omni with Trimble Places is available in North America. The company expects to make the Omni integration available for Trimble CoPilot and TMT Fleet Maintenance customers in the region in the near future.
