Plans for the hotel include a ground-floor restaurant, a spa, an indoor swimming pool and a rooftop venue with a bar and restaurant.
Positioned close to the city’s high-end retail, restaurants and cultural attractions, the hotel is intended to appeal to both Spanish and international visitors drawn to the Salamanca neighbourhood.
The opening will also extend Kimpton’s presence in Spain, where the brand is already operating in Barcelona, Mallorca and Marbella.
IHG Hotels & Resorts Europe development vice-president Willemijn Geels said: “The signing of our first Kimpton in Madrid marks an exciting milestone for IHG as we continue to grow our luxury and lifestyle portfolio in strategic markets across Europe.
“Spain is a cornerstone of our European growth strategy, offering significant scale potential and strong fundamentals, and we’re delighted to partner with El Corte Inglés on this exciting new hotel.
“Madrid has firmly established itself as one of Europe’s most compelling destinations for luxury travel, and this exceptional hotel will give guests a distinctive new way to experience the city through Kimpton’s bold design, heartfelt service and locally inspired experiences.”
Earlier this month, IHG Hotels & Resorts announced that it will introduce its Indigo hotel brand in Stockholm’s Kvarnholmen district in Sweden.
The 232-room property is slated to open in 2029.
