Hospitality company Strawberry is set to assume responsibility for operating Hotel Giò in Solna, Sweden, in late 2026.

The company will take over the hotel’s operations from YMCA Central (KFUM Central), which runs sports, music and camp activities for 3,000 young people.

The property will be integrated into Strawberry’s Home Hotel chain.

The 179-room hotel is located near Haga Norra, close to Hagaparken, Mall of Scandinavia and central Stockholm.

Among the rooms are 35 studio apartments equipped with private kitchenettes for longer visits.

The property is designed with references to Italian architecture from the 1950s.

The site also comprises a 160-seat Italian restaurant Mama Giò, a summer terrace with a bocce court, and an area for events and remote work.

Strawberry owner Petter Stordalen said: “The building has a completely unique soul and a personality that matches Home Hotel perfectly – it is bold, warm, and full of life.”

Property owner Fabege called the new lease agreement and the change in operator  “strategic” for the surrounding Haga Norra area.

Fabege CEO Bent Oustad said: “We are immensely proud of the unique destination that Hotel Giò has become, where the property’s historical qualities and details have been preserved in the best possible way. As we now look ahead and take the next step in the hotel’s development, Strawberry feels like the perfect partner.

“Their enormous drive, commercial engine, and strong focus on creating vibrant meeting places will give Hotel Giò exactly the right energy to reach its full potential.”

Stordalen added: “Together with Fabege, we will ensure that Hotel Giò continues to shine and remains the go-to, beating living room for both travellers and neighbours.”
