The project is described as the first full-service lifestyle hotel for the South End area. Charlotte remains one of the company’s priority growth markets.
The planned hotel will have 295 rooms, around 10,000ft² of meeting and event space, and a ground-level restaurant.
The property will also include a public steam sauna, cold and hot plunge pools, wellness activities, and a spa.
The open-air deck will house a restaurant and bar, reached via a separate lift from the ground floor.
White Lodging said a project team covering design and construction has been put in place. The hotel is scheduled to open in late 2028.
The company previously developed the JW Marriott Charlotte in Uptown, together with the restaurant venues Dean’s Italian Steakhouse, Caroline’s Oyster Bar, and Aura Rooftop.
Its wider portfolio includes 60 premium hotels, a privately held group of luxury ranches, 50 independently branded restaurants, and ten rooftop bars.
White Lodging vice-chairman and chief investment officer Conner White said: “Charlotte’s South End represents exactly the kind of vibrant, experience-driven neighbourhood where an Autograph Collection hotel can truly thrive.”
“Our investment here will reflect the same commitment to quality and community that has defined our work in uptown Charlotte with the JW Marriott.
“The South End market has matured to a point where a project of this calibre is not only viable, but essential. We see tremendous opportunity to serve guests with a property that is deeply connected to the neighbourhood’s energy and identity.”
