Aimbridge Hospitality has taken over operations at three boutique hotels owned by Gorman & Company, a US developer focused on reusing historic buildings and redeveloping communities in the Midwest.

The properties are The Brewhouse Inn & Suites in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; The Stella Hotel & Ballroom in Kenosha, Wisconsin; and Embassy Suites by Hilton Rockford Riverfront in Rockford, Illinois.

For Gorman, the move represents its first use of a third-party hotel operator.

The staff at all three hotels have moved into Aimbridge’s operating structure.

The company will also oversee the food and beverage outlets that Gorman had developed with Aimbridge’s Taste & Theory.

Aimbridge Hospitality chief global growth officer Eric Jacobs said: “Gorman has invested deeply in these communities and it shows in every detail throughout the historic properties. We are honoured to be selected as their operating partner.

“We look forward to delivering the operational excellence and performance that carries them into their next chapter.”

The Brewhouse Inn & Suites, Milwaukee is located in the former Pabst Blue Ribbon Brewery, a German Renaissance Revival building from 1877 that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Gorman converted the disused brewery into a 90-suite hotel in 2013.

In Kenosha, the Stella Hotel & Ballroom is the only full-service hotel in the city centre. The 80-room property is set in a restored building on the National Register of Historic Places.

Embassy Suites by Hilton Rockford Riverfront opened in 2020 as part of the redevelopment of the downtown area.

The 160-room hotel was created through an $87.5m public-private partnership that converted the long-empty 13-storey Ziock Building into the only hotel in downtown Rockford.

It has two restaurants, including a rooftop lounge, as well as more than 21,000ft² of meeting and event space.

Gorman & Company hotel operations vice-president Laura Narduzzi said: “We chose Aimbridge because we saw in them the same commitment to people and purpose that has guided Gorman for over 40 years.

“We’re confident our team members will thrive, our guests will continue to experience something genuinely special, and our historic buildings will be well-maintained.”
