Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has signed an agreement to develop a Taj hotel in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu.
The 300-key Taj Rameswaram will be developed as a greenfield project across 70 acres in phases.

Planned facilities at the property include two speciality restaurants, a bar lounge, a pool bar, and venues for meetings and social events.
The hotel will also have banquet facilities, convention areas, and meeting rooms.
It will also offer a wide range of leisure amenities such as a swimming pool, fitness centre, a wellness venue and spa with several treatment rooms.
IHCL real estate and development executive vice-president Suma Venkatesh said: “Rameswaram is among India’s most prominent spiritual destinations, attracting travellers from across the country and overseas.
“With growing infrastructure and improving connectivity, the destination presents significant potential for religious, spiritual, leisure and MICE tourism.
“We are delighted to partner with Setupuram Hotels & Resorts Private Limited for this project and bring the Taj experience to Rameswaram.”
IHCL is developing the project in partnership with Setupuram Hotels & Resorts.

Following the addition of the hotel, IHCL’s portfolio in Tamil Nadu will comprise 35 properties, including 16 under development.
