The reopening completes the Barbados Collection’s renovation, a “multi-million” programme carried out over two years across all seven of its resorts in the destination.

Following the works, Tamarind now has 111 updated rooms and suites, as well as its food and leisure facilities.

Facilities available to guests include several swimming pools, beach areas, water sports, wellness services and activities linked to the local destination.

For families, the Tamarind CAMP Club has been introduced as an indoor and outdoor area developed with CAMP and Marriott Bonvoy.

Its activities are based on Barbados and include arts and crafts, music, storytelling and other interactive sessions for children.

The transformation also included the conversion of Waves Resort & Spa, Treasure Beach, The House and Tamarind into Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resorts, while Crystal Cove and Turtle Beach have been introduced as Tribute Portfolio All-Inclusive Resorts.

Colony Club has also reopened as Barbados’ first property within The Luxury Collection.

In addition, Tamarind’s return completes the Barbados Collection’s Lifestyle Stretch, which links experiences across The House, Treasure Beach and Tamarind. The group has also opened Sandtrap Beach Club, a beachfront venue on the west coast.

Guests staying at Tamarind can use the Barbados Collection’s Dine Around Programme, which provides access to dining and related experiences at participating sister properties.

The resort also includes space for meetings, weddings and other events, with two indoor venues and outdoor areas with capacity for up to 400 people.

Marriott International Caribbean and Mexico regional vice-president Gastón Gonzalez said: “The reopening of Tamarind is an incredibly meaningful moment for Marriott International, our team, and for the future of hospitality in Barbados.

“Over the past several years, we have undertaken an ambitious vision to completely reimagine our portfolio across the island. Tamarind’s reopening and adherence to the Autograph Collection brand represents the culmination of that journey and reinforces our commitment to delivering world-class, all-inclusive experiences under Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of distinctive brands.”
