The resort has 415 rooms, suites, and terraces, with interiors designed around a residential, villa-inspired layout.

The Presidential Suites include separate living areas, while selected ground-floor suites have direct access to semi-private swim-out pools.

The property also includes Mindful Rooms and Suites, a Mindfulness House wellness facility, and a pool area with 17 pools, including an oceanfront infinity pool.

Costa Elena introduces the Griffin Club, a “private resort-within-a-resort” offering.

Some Griffin Club accommodation has swim-out access, while the Griffin Club Presidential Suite includes indoor and outdoor living areas with coastal views.

Griffin Club facilities include a lounge open around the clock for dining and socialising, a dedicated pool with concierge service, and a beach area for guests.

There are 15 restaurants and bars across the resort, with menus influenced by Costa Rican, Italian, Mexican, and Japanese cuisine.

The venues include Leal, Casado, Puerto Limón, Luciano, Santos, Borbón, Namuyaki, and Boga. The property also has a root beer stand, the first of its kind for JW Marriott.

The resort’s JW Garden programme is based around an on-site garden.

Spa by JW uses local practices and ingredients in its treatments, including volcanic clay and native cacao, alongside other elements associated with Costa Rican culture.

The Family by JW Club provides activities for children, including nature walks, creative sessions, and hands-on activities. Adults can take part in a daily programme combining outdoor activities with wellness experiences.

The resort has more than 9,000ft² of indoor and outdoor event space, including an oceanfront ballroom and open-air venues at Playa El Jobo.

It offers the Sacred Fire Soiree, a sunset gathering based on Costa Rica’s natural elements.

JW Marriott vice president and global brand leader Bruce Rohr said: “The opening of JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort & Spa represents more than our entry into the all-inclusive category, it introduces a new expression of the JW Marriott brand.”
