Scandic Hotels Group has completed its purchase of Dalata Hotel Group’s hotel operations for €500m ($559m) on a cash-free and debt-free basis.

The deal follows a framework agreement signed in July 2025 with a consortium comprising Pandox and Eiendomsspar.

In November 2025, the group also took over the operation of Dalata’s hotel under a management agreement.

Scandic financed the transaction using cash and cash equivalents, as well as loan facilities under its long-term financing framework announced in July.

Overall, the acquisition covers 57 hotels with around 12,500 rooms. It also includes a pipeline of approximately 1,600 additional keys.

Scandic noted that it will consolidate the acquired operations in its “Other Europe” reporting segment.

Scandic president and CEO Jens Mathiesen said: “This marks an important step in Scandic’s growth journey. Having previously been engaged by Pandox to manage the hotel operations, we have gained greater confidence in the potential of the business.

“Dalata’s strong market position and attractive hotel portfolio are a strong complement to our business. I am pleased to welcome Dalata’s employees to Scandic and look forward to working together to build on the strengths of both companies.

“We are creating a stronger European hotel platform with broader reach and an even stronger foundation for creating long-term value for our guests, employees and shareholders.”

The transaction takes Scandic’s network to more than 320 hotels across 150 destinations in 11 markets in northern Europe.

The company’s portfolio includes Dalata’s brands Clayton Hotels and Maldron Hotels, which have “established positions” in Ireland and the UK.
