The site includes the Sandalwood Ballroom, as well as several dedicated meeting suites, for corporate gatherings and private functions.

Leisure facilities at the development include a rooftop swimming pool and a 24-hour fitness centre.

Doha is Kimpton’s second market in the Middle East, following the launch of Kimpton KAFD Riyadh.

Further regional properties are planned for Dubai and Jeddah.

The addition builds on IHG’s existing presence in Qatar, where the group already operates the Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, InterContinental, Staybridge Suites and voco brands.

IHG Hotels & Resorts India, Middle East and Africa managing director Haitham Mattar said: “Kimpton’s arrival in Qatar is an important moment for IHG in the Middle East.

“Doha continues to grow as a destination for culture, business and leisure, and travellers increasingly want hotels that offer more than a place to stay.

“They want character, connection and a genuine sense of place. Kimpton Al Rowda Doha delivers exactly that and, following our debut in Riyadh, builds strong momentum for the brand across the region as we look ahead to openings in Dubai and Jeddah.”
