August 2021 has seen an increase of 5.3% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 4.76% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2021, registering a decrease of 0.17% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 66.6% in August 2021, a 6.2% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 13% in August 2021, marking a 9.72% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 11.6% in August 2021, a 1.69% drop from July 2021.

By GlobalDataComputer and Information Analysts registered a share of 3.4% in August 2021, a 54.55% rise over the previous month.
Top five travel & tourism companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 2.94% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s travel & tourism industry during August 2021 over previous month.
A.P. Moller – Maersk posted 83 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered an increase of 2.47% over the previous month, followed by Booking Holdings with 50 jobs and a 233.33% growth. Genting Group with 49 IT jobs and Genting with 44 jobs, recorded a 4.26% rise and a 45% drop, respectively, while DSV Panalpina recorded a 26.67% increase with 19 job postings during August 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s travel & tourism industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 44.6% share in August 2021, a 31.95% increase over July 2021. Australia featured next with a 15.6% share, flat growth over the previous month. Malaysia recorded a 13.4% share, a drop of 48.06% compared with July 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 64%, up by 3.9% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 19.2% share, registered a decline of 1.03% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 16.8% share, down 30.58% over July 2021.
