Asia-Pacific witnessed an 8.9% rise in IT hiring activity in the travel & tourism industry in June 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.
June 2021 has seen an increase of 5.44% in the overall hiring activity when compared with May 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 4.87% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in June 2021, registering an increase of 0.13% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in June 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 69.73% in June 2021, a 19.81% growth over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 10.81% in June 2021, marking a 9.09% month-on-month an increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 9.91% in June 2021, a 25% growth from May 2021.
Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 3.78% in June 2021, a 40% rise over the previous month.
Top five travel & tourism companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in June 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 31.51% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s travel & tourism industry during June 2021 over previous month.
Genting posted 77 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a an increase of 1.32% over the previous month, followed by Genting Group with 73 jobs and a 65.91% growth. A.P. Moller – Maersk with 57 IT jobs and Booking Holdings with 45 jobs, recorded a 1.72% decline and a 275% increase, respectively, while Expedia Group recorded a 24.14% an increase with 36 job postings during June 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s travel & tourism industry
Malaysia commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 27.57% share in June 2021, a 19.53% rise over May 2021. India featured next with a 25.41% share, up 6.02% over the previous month. Australia recorded a 15.14% share, a growth of 40% compared with May 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 70.09%, up by 4.01% from May 2021. Entry Level positions with a 15.14% share, a growth of 115.38% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 14.77% share, up 57.69% over May 2021.
