The industry’s overall hiring increased by 2.89% in August 2021 when compared with July 2021.
Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 5.99% share in August 2021, recording a decrease of 1.44% over the last three-month average share.

By GlobalData1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 62.5% in August 2021, registering a 22.22% flat growth over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 12.5% share, an increase of 266.67% over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 12.5%, registering a 120% rise from July 2021.
4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 10.23%, down 43.75% over the previous month.
Top five travel & tourism companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 60% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s travel & tourism industry during August 2021 over July 2021.
WestJet Airlines posted 14 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a drop of 30% over the previous month, followed by Booking Holdings with 14 jobs and a flat growth. Air Canada with 11 IT jobs and Canadian National Railway with 9 jobs, recorded a 57.14% flat growth and a 350% flat growth, respectively, while International Game Technology recorded an increase of 33.33% with 8 job postings during August 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 59.09%, down by 5.45% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 27.27% share, registered an increase of 100% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12.5% share, up 57.14% over July 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.14%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
