Notably, Management Occupations jobs accounted for a 17% share of the global travel and tourism industry’s future of work-related total new job postings in Q2 2024, up 5% over the prior quarter.

Management Occupations drive future of work-related hiring activity

Management Occupations, with a share of 17%, emerged as the top future of work-related job roles within the travel and tourism industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 5% quarter-on-quarter. Computer and Mathematical Occupations came in second with a share of 16% in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 0.59% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent future of work roles include Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 7% share in Q2 2024, Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 6% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in travel and tourism industry accounted for 38% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were Shangri-La Asia, Walt Disney, Park Holidays, Marriott International, and Deutsche Bahn. Together they accounted for a combined share of 38% of all future of work-related new jobs in the travel and tourism industry.

Shangri-La Asia posted 405 future of work-related new jobs in Q2 2024, Walt Disney 397 jobs, Park Holidays 346 jobs, Marriott International 257 jobs, and Deutsche Bahn 208 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 40.05% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024

The largest share of future of work-related new job postings in the travel and tourism industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 40.05% followed by the UK (11.27%) and India (9.54%). The share represented by the US was four percentage points lower than the 43.90% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
