South & Central America witnessed an 11.5% rise in IT hiring activity in the apparel industry in July 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.

July 2021 has seen an increase of 13.93% in the overall hiring activity when compared with June 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 4.44% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2021, registering decrease of 0.49% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 42.31% in July 2021, a 4.35% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 23.08% in July 2021, marking a 33.33% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 13.46% in July 2021, a 133.33% growth from June 2021.

Computer Support Specialists registered a share of 12.5% in July 2021, a 30% rise over the previous month.

Top five apparel companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in July 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 23.29% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s apparel industry during July 2021 over previous month.

Amazon posted 42 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a decline of 25% over the previous month, followed by Robert Bosch with 24 jobs and a 100% growth. Walgreens Boots Alliance with 16 IT jobs and adidas with 4 jobs, recorded a 300% growth and a 300% increase, respectively, while Wesfarmers recorded a flat growth with 4 job postings during July 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s apparel industry

Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s apparel industry IT hiring activity with a 52.88% share in July 2021, a 14.06% decline over June 2021. Jamaica featured next with a 17.31% share, up 350% over the previous month. Chile recorded a 9.62% share, a growth of 400% compared with June 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 56.73%, up by 11.32% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 26.92% share, a growth of 21.74% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 16.35% share, up 30.77% over June 2021.
