The UK’s travel & tourism industry registered a 22.8% rise in IT hiring activity in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring a decreased by 10.71% in August 2021 when compared with July 2021.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 2.8% share in August 2021, recording an increase of 0.63% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s travel & tourism industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.64% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s travel & tourism industry in August 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 54.09% in August 2021, registering a 36.78% flat growth over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 16.82% share, an increase of 48% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 13.64%, registering a 76.47% rise from July 2021.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 7.27%, up 128.57% over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 142.19% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s travel & tourism industry during August 2021 over July 2021.

Bet365 Group posted 71 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by A.P. Moller – Maersk with 24 jobs and a 35.14% drop. William Hill with 22 IT jobs and Greene King with 21 jobs, recorded a 69.23% flat growth and a 90.91% flat growth, respectively, while International Consolidated Airlines Group recorded an increase of 466.67% with 17 job postings during August 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 74.09%, up by 56.73% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 16.36% share, registered an increase of 24.14% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 9.55% share, up 10.53% over July 2021.
