
The UK travel & tourism industry registered a 5.7% rise in IT hiring activity in July 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.
The industry’s overall hiring decreased by 2.26% in July 2021 compared with June 2021.
Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 2.04% share in July 2021, recording decrease of 1.13% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the UK travel & tourism industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.3% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK travel & tourism industry in July 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 55.41% in July 2021, a 20.59% growth over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 16.89% share, decline of 26.47% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 11.49%, registering a 6.25% rise from June 2021.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 8.78%, up 550% over the previous month.
Top five travel & tourism companies in the UK IT recruitment activity in July 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 56.6% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK travel & tourism industry during July 2021 over June 2021.
A.P. Moller – Maersk posted 37 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a rise of 117.65% over the previous month, followed by William Hill with 13 jobs and an 18.18% growth. Expedia Group with 13 IT jobs and Greene King with 11 jobs, recorded an 85.71% growth and a 38.89% decline, respectively, while Soho House recorded a flat growth with 9 job postings during July 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 66.22%, up by 16.67% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 20.27% share, a growth of 15.38% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12.84% share, up 11.76% over June 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.68%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
