Asia-Pacific witnessed a 1.8% drop in IT hiring activity in the travel & tourism industry in April 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

April 2022 has seen a decrease of 6.12% in the overall hiring activity when compared with March 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 6.75% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in April 2022, registering an increase of 0.37% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in April 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 75.92% in April 2022, a 21.69% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 9.49% in April 2022, marking a 25.58% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 7.21% in April 2022, a 22.64% drop from March 2022.

Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 4.92% in April 2022, a 16.67% rise over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in April 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 75.85% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s travel & tourism industry during April 2022 over previous month.

Uber Technologies posted 181 IT jobs in April 2022 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by A.P. Moller – Maersk with 60 jobs and a 4.76% drop. Expedia Group with 48 IT jobs and The Walt Disney with 44 jobs, recorded a 108.7% rise and a 40.54% drop, respectively, while Genting Group recorded a 34.04% decline with 31 job postings during April 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s travel & tourism industry

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 51.85% share in April 2022, a 62.09% increase over March 2022. China featured next with a 9.84% share, up 1.82% over the previous month. Malaysia recorded an 8.96% share, a drop of 35.44% compared with March 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in April 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 66.26%, up by 9.91% from March 2022. Mid Level positions with a 21.79% share, registered a growth of 42.53% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 11.6% share, up 4.76% over March 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.35%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
