October 2022 has seen a decrease of 6.33% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 4.87% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2022, registering a decrease of 0.29% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 42.82% in October 2022, a 41.26% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 25.47% in October 2022, marking a 6.82% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 15.45% in October 2022, a 19.72% drop from September 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 20.45% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s travel & tourism industry during October 2022 over previous month.

A.P. Moller – Maersk posted 74 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a decline of 25.25% over the previous month, followed by Booking Holdings with 64 jobs and a flat growth. Walt Disney with 35 IT jobs and Uber Technologies with 23 jobs, recorded a 33.96% drop and a 17.86% drop, respectively, while Capital A recorded a 28% decline with 18 job postings during October 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s travel & tourism industry

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 43.36% share in October 2022, a 30.74% decrease over September 2022. Thailand featured next with a 15.99% share, up 9.26% over the previous month. Australia recorded an 11.92% share, a growth of 2.33% compared with September 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 62.33%, down by 25.32% from September 2022. Mid Level positions with a 20.33% share, registered a decline of 22.68% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 16.26% share, down 27.71% over September 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 1.08%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
