Asia-Pacific witnessed a 0.8% rise in IT hiring activity in the travel & tourism industry in December 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
December 2021 has seen a decrease of 3.27% in the overall hiring activity when compared with November 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 6.2% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in December 2021, registering an increase of 0.8% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in December 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 71.09% in December 2021, a 12.08% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 10.35% in December 2021, marking a 25.35% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 7.81% in December 2021, a 42.03% drop from November 2021.
Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 5.47% in December 2021, a 26.32% decline over the previous month.
Top five travel & tourism companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 7.03% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s travel & tourism industry during December 2021 over previous month.
A.P. Moller – Maersk posted 196 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered an increase of 108.51% over the previous month, followed by Expedia Group with 44 jobs and a 46.34% drop. The Walt Disney with 29 IT jobs and Guangdong Huatie Tongda High-speed Railway Equipment with 18 jobs, recorded a 26.09% rise and an 84.87% drop, respectively, while Genting recorded an 88.89% increase with 17 job postings during December 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s travel & tourism industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 58.01% share in December 2021, a 12.13% decrease over November 2021. China featured next with a 9.57% share, up 28.95% over the previous month. Australia recorded an 8.98% share, a drop of 39.47% compared with November 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 54.69%, down by 28.21% from November 2021. Mid Level positions with a 34.96% share, registered a growth of 24.31% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 9.38% share, down 46.67% over November 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.98%, recording a month-on-month growth of 400%.
