Asia-Pacific witnessed a 10.5% rise in IT hiring activity in the travel & tourism industry in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

October 2021 has seen a decrease of 4.34% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 5.58% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2021, registering an increase of 0.85% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 70.19% in October 2021, a 17.4% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 13.05% in October 2021, marking a 1.33% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 10.58% in October 2021, a 22.45% rise from September 2021.

Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 3.35% in October 2021, a 26.92% decline over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 28.51% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s travel & tourism industry during October 2021 over previous month.

Expedia Group posted 127 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered an increase of 35.11% over the previous month, followed by A.P. Moller – Maersk with 73 jobs and a 23.16% drop. Uber Technologies with 46 IT jobs and Tabcorp Holdings with 34 jobs, recorded a 1433.33% rise and a 3.03% rise, respectively, while AirAsia Group recorded an 82.35% increase with 31 job postings during October 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s travel & tourism industry

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 36.86% share in October 2021, a 9.91% decrease over September 2021. Australia featured next with a 19.75% share, up 28.74% over the previous month. Hong Kong recorded a 9.17% share, a growth of 36.84% compared with September 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 67.37%, up by 20.5% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 20.63% share, registered a growth of 0.86% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 11.99% share, down 10.53% over September 2021.
