Australia’s travel & tourism industry registered a flat growth in IT hiring activity in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 2.57% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 8.1% share in September 2021, recording an increase of 1.58% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Australia’s travel & tourism industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s travel & tourism industry in September 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 65.48% in September 2021, registering a 25% flat growth over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 22.62% share, an increase of 26.67% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 7.14%, registering a 45.45% decline from August 2021.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 3.57%, down 40% over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 52.27% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s travel & tourism industry during September 2021 over August 2021.

Tabcorp Holdings posted 32 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a rise of 77.78% over the previous month, followed by Expedia Group with 16 jobs and a flat growth. Flight Centre Travel Group with 11 IT jobs and Qantas Airways with 4 jobs, recorded a 31.25% decline and a 33.33% decrease, respectively, while Queensland Rail recorded a flat growth with 4 job postings during September 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 72.62%, up by 7.02% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 15.48% share, registered an increase of 8.33% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 10.71% share, down 25% over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.19%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
