
Australia’s travel & tourism industry registered a 22.4% rise in IT hiring activity in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 23.14% in October 2021 when compared with September 2021.
Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 8.06% share in October 2021, recording an increase of 0.46% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Australia’s travel & tourism industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.32% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s travel & tourism industry in October 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 59.82% in October 2021, registering a 19.64% growth over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 16.07% share, an increase of 200% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 16.07%, registering a 10% decline from September 2021.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 2.68%, down 25% over the previous month.
Top five travel & tourism companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 39.13% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s travel & tourism industry during October 2021 over September 2021.
Tabcorp Holdings posted 34 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a rise of 3.03% over the previous month, followed by Expedia Group with 30 jobs and an 87.5% growth. Qantas Airways with 18 IT jobs and Flight Centre Travel Group with 10 jobs, recorded a 260% growth and a 9.09% decrease, respectively, while Virgin Australia Holdings recorded a flat growth with 4 job postings during October 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 72.32%, up by 26.56% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 17.86% share, registered an increase of 53.85% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 9.82% share, up 22.22% over September 2021.
